M-Tech�P - Edge bonded shims in CFC

M-Tech^�P-CFC1 is a further development of edge-bonded shims made of composite material PREPREG HX50 HS 120g 1K 2X2T. The edge bonding is made in accordance with customer's specifications at the edge of the foils and resembles a book spine. The cohesion of M-Tech^�P-CFC1 edge bonded shim is thus appropriate for transportation and handling. Characteristics:

Lamivario^� is a further development of laminated shims made of metal and/or composites according to customer�s specifications. The bonding takes place on one point of gluing, which is applied centrically between the individual layers. The cohesion of Lamivario^� shims is thus appropriate for transportation and handling.

The new laminated shim from Mylar�

Georg Martin GmbH presents the first non-metallic laminated shims M-Tech^�L PET. They are particularly suitable for the use in lightweight structures and mechanical assemblies, in which the electrical insulation is especially involved.

The new laminated shim by Martin^� is made of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Mylar^� from DuPont^� and consists layers of 0.1 mm laminated plastic foils. The PET is characterized by:

high tensile strength
tear resistance
chemical, mechanical and thermal stability.
low density of about 1.3 kg /dm3 and is counted among the surface insulating of the class B (up to 130�C)
good electrical insulation (dielectric strength approximately 180 V/�m).

Moreover, M-Tech^�L PET by Georg Martin GmbH is extremely light, heat and cold resistant and is recommended as an Ideal light-weight solution for construction design in which different functional units must be electrically insulated. A central aspect in the development of new plastic shims was the easy handling of the peeling film. M-Tech^�L from Mylar^� can be peeled easily and accurately with two fingers. Unlike steel, aluminum or brass, the individual foil can be also reused after peeling.

Especially in automotive, aerospace, electrical and measuring techniques, there are numerous applications for M-Tech^�L from Mylar^�. Another typical application is the flange insulation in the construction of generators and transformers which Mylar^� shims perform here the dual function, as tolerance compensation and the insulating effect!

Laminum� HP1 shims, Innovation of the material structure

Tolerance compensation in the assembly of components can be optimized to 25 micrometres with the new, high-precision shim from Georg Martin GmbH that goes by the name of Laminum^� HP1. Laminum^� HP1 from is tailor-made for simple, high-precision compensation and alignment in the assembly of components. The special feature of these stainless steel spacer shims is the combination of severable peelable foil layers, each with a thickness of 0.05 millimetre and a final high-precision film with a thickness of a mere 0.025 millimetre. This so-called joker foil serves as a kind of final step in the manual fine adjustment process, where tolerances in the 2.5 hundredths range have to be compensated. The new Laminum^� HP1 combined solution is a time and cost-optimized alternative to a spacer shim laminated entirely with 0.025 millimetre foil layers, because the manufacturing costs are lower than with fully coated 0.025 millimetre shims. Laminum^� HP1 also helps the user to achieve the desired objective more quickly because the �thicker� 0.05 mm films can be peeled off much faster. Another advantage is that the practical utilization of the Laminum^� HP1 in the assembly of components is simplified because the 25� film (unlike the adjacent 50� films) has a small, slightly raised finger lift which allows you to recognize the joker foil immediately and pull it off manually with the peeling knife, similar to the lid of a yoghourt tub! The use of shims for clearance compensation nowadays is considered as the basic task in the component assembly for engineers. For all cases in which no precision in hundredths of a millimeter is required, Georg Martin now offers suppliers the new 0.1 mm laminated shims from the product group M-Tech^�L.

Especially for applications in transmission, automotive, aerospace and mechanical engineering, it is an economical alternative to shims according to DIN 988. The 0.1 mm shims are now proposed in different thicknesses in aluminum (EN AW-Al99, 5) and stainless steel (X5CrNi18-10).

Everywhere where there is no requirement for the accuracy in the micrometer range, you arrive quickly with the new 0.1 millimeter peel shims by Georg Martin to the goal. For this reason due to the bigger increment of the 0.1 mm foils, compared to a 0.05 mm laminated shims for example, the desired thickness tolerance is achieved with significantly less manual peeling operations. In addition, they are inexpensive as they are composed of only half amount of foils compared to the 0.05 mm shims.
